What do you want to do in the community?
The Out and About Program can help you to get out of your home and do those things you’ve been wanting to do!
Out and About is a program that supports Center for Independent Living staff to promote their consumers’ participation in their communities. By learning what consumers want to do and by helping them to set goals and achieve them, CIL staff can facilitate consumers’ breaking down barriers to get out and about to do what they want, as much as they want, in the community.
For example, consumers might set goals to:
- learn how to use the public transit system, or paratransit;
- gain advocacy skills
- explore community resources and accessibility
- manage personal assistance services
- become a volunteer
- create a social network or many more!
